One of my goals for 2010 is to become better acquainted with the Rosary Prayer.  I have long been intrigued by the Rosary beads/chain.  In fact, I purchased one from an estate jeweler long before I became Catholic.  It’s an interesting piece, purple beads on a gold chain, made by  French Medalist Jean-Baptiste-Emile Dropsy (1858-1923).  I would love to know the history.  Who before me has fingered those glass beads?  Under what circumstances?  Where?  How did it get from the Artist’s hands to mine?  It seems to me like it would be an excellent focus tool should the need arise.  Same principle as women in labor using an item to focus on in an effort to distract from pain.  So, I spend some quiet time on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, an odd juxtaposition of tools at hand:  A podcast of the Rosary on my iPhone and my 100+ year old Rosary.  How kewl is that?

  1. That is very kewl! I bought Elizabeth a rosary for our wedding. In between each decade is a little triangle shaped piece and on each side is inscribed the corresponding Mystery. A cheat code rosary!
