Today’s reality check, as provided by my Lawyer; “Buying real estate is not like buying a car from a dealer, or an appliance from a retailer.  It is not as formal a process as it was in medieval times, but there still are rules that one ignores at one’s risk.  Whether or not you realize it, you buy with imputed knowledge of all defects (mortgages, other liens, easements, restrictions) that have been recorded against the property.  Hence the need for title examination.”  My buying, closing and moving in to a new home will likely take more than a week.
