Victorian Secrets Primer

We’ve just returned home from the “Victorian Secrets Primer” at the Alexander Ramsey House in St. Paul; “This special 75-minute evening tour, recommended for adults-only, exposes the private side of Victorian life. Learn about some of the very human, but unmentionable problems that the Ramsey family—and others during the Victorian era—had to cope with and see the many artifacts in the house from a different perspective.” Another benefit of my membership in the Minnesota Historical Society.  Very fun and informative!

Violated!

Yesterday I violated my “no using the car on weekends” rule when I went to my office to process the W2’s.  Today I drove the darn thing to church.  It was take the car or be really late.  Not going at all was an option for just a fleeting moment.  I was ready early so I started working on cleaning my desk and files.  I don’t know if BigBen wasn’t chiming, or I didn’t hear it – though I was sitting right next to it.

Silly Girl

I wore one of my fur coats today.  I don’t wear them very often as I feel silly when I do – like I’m not old enough or something.  I’ve decided it’s a shame for these Critters to have died only to spend their eternity in my front closet.  So, I’ll wear them when it’s cold enough.

Amen!

One of my things to work on in 2007 is my spirituality.  The plan was to find a church.  Last week I got a post card in the mail inviting me to the new church in my neighborhood.  Funny how things work out some times.  While I’ve embraced technology in almost every area of my life, I have trouble with it at church.  The sermon was delivered by satellite to a movie screen.  Kinda like watching Football at the bar.  The non traditional service is . . . I’m not sure what the right word is.  Not exactly uncomfortable, but that’s what comes to mind.  I will give it some time to become more familiar.  Given the service time is perfect for me and I can walk, what’s not to like?

Arboretum

Though cloudy, it was almost 40 today!  The Luce Line is muddy, rough and not stroller friendly this time of year so Avery and I went to the Arboretum and did the three mile loop, almost a mile of which she walked herself.  We ended up doing the last mile a second time as I dropped my camera and we went back looking for (and found!!) it.  A wander through the gift shop netted a new book.  We shared a turkey sandwich and chocolate chip cookie in the resturant.  Had a nap in front of the fire when we got home.
