Early Mass. The neighbor dogs keep bringing gifts; a purple boot, a knit glove, a ball.

A trip to the Post Office netted me one of the last three items I’m waiting on! UPS tracking tells me the other two will arrive on Monday. I’m mostly done. Sometimes I wonder if I’m not missing something in not rushing around with last minute shopping. But, it’s that sort of Christmas spirit I am consciously trying to avoid.

Avery and I stopped in Uptown to finish our shopping. Did some present wrapping. She made trains and houses out of all the boxes in the work room upstairs. Played outside. We still spend more time getting her dressed to go out than are actually outside.

One of my goals for 2010 is to become better acquainted with the Rosary Prayer. I have long been intrigued by the Rosary beads/chain. In fact, I purchased one from an estate jeweler long before I became Catholic. It’s an interesting piece, purple beads on a gold chain, made by French Medalist Jean-Baptiste-Emile Dropsy (1858-1923). I would love to know the history. Who before me has fingered those glass beads? Under what circumstances? Where? How did it get from the Artist’s hands to mine? It seems to me like it would be an excellent focus tool should the need arise. Same principle as women in labor using an item to focus on in an effort to distract from pain. So, I spend some quiet time on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, an odd juxtaposition of tools at hand: A podcast of the Rosary on my iPhone and my 100+ year old Rosary. How kewl is that?

I am really happy with having my Trainer come to my house instead of going to the gym. I’m making good use of available space in my home and spending the drive time doing small household chores like emptying the dryer or dishwasher. Starting this Friday, a Pilates Trainer/Occupational Therapist will be coming to the house as well and I’ll be very happy to begin making use of my Pilates Reformer. The next logical step is to cancel my gym membership completely. I’m having trouble with this for some reason. There is a social aspect of going to the gym that I have enjoyed. These days I have several other opportunities for socialization; Church and OLLI for starters. CorePower Yoga has a schedule that is much more convenient than the Marsh, so I can’t even justify my membership for the Yoga. I’ve belonged to the Marsh for 20 years and it’s hard to let go, yet perhaps time to move on. || I am spending the afternoon with our new Accountant, who was our old Accountant. The year 2009 is winding down.

Avery spent the night last night. After we dropped her off at home this morning, we drove down to Red Wing where we enjoyed the Anderson Center’s 10th Annual Holiday Celebration of the Arts. || Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe/Spanish Mass and I’m sleeping in tomorrow morning.
