2008-02-03 Sunday

Mass at St. George.  8:00 and 10:00!  Steve typically plays guitar at 8 and was recruited to sing at 10.  It really does make for a peaceful start to the day.  We came home and make chocolate pancakes for brunch.  Did some laundry.  Refused to fight the urge to nap.  At some point I noticed just a tad of sunshine coming in the loft skylight and that motivated me to get out the door with Hanna.  So, both dogs got a good walk this weekend.  I’m thinking I have the YakTrax to thank for keeping all my bones intact despite the ice on the trail.  Corn chowder for dinner.  “Benny & Joon”.  Early to bed.

Before he left for work, Steve brought me a cup of coffee in bed.  At first that seemed way too slovenly, but I must admit that a half hour with my book and a cup of coffee was a very nice way to start the day.  Coco and I took advantage of the warm weather and went for a walk.  While some sun would have been much appreciated, it was nice to get outside.  We celebrated Avery’s birthday at Mom & Dad’s.

2008-02-01 Friday

Avery and I picked up her kayak!  About 2:00 Avery announced it was nap time and headed upstairs.  I didn’t need any convincing on that command!  Once in bed she seemed more inclined to diddle around than actually sleep.  My intent was an hour of rest/quiet.  About 2:45 she announces; “I have to go potty!” and that was the end of napping.  She didn’t.  I think I was manipulated.  By a three year old.  We were Steve’s Aunt Charlotte’s guests for a behind-the-scenes look at “Almanac” , tpt’s award-winning public affairs program.  We enjoyed this immensely!

2008-01-31 Thursday

Thanks to my Bankers and Rent-A-Geek, I didn’t get nearly as much done today as I would have liked.  We made Avery’s birthday cake.  Chocolate cake, butter cream frosting and a chocolate chip cookie bear on top.  Very cute!

2008-01-29 Tuesday

The bad news:  It’s cold [-12°] and windy.  The good news:  I didn’t have to go to church tonight.  Tuesday nights get so late and Wednesday is an early day for me.  While I don’t for one minute regret having made the commitment to explore the Catholic faith, it is nice to get a week off.
