Between my Dad and Gracie, I didn’t sleep very well. So, I figured I might as well get up and out with Daisy. Fox/Willow/Watertown/Leaf Loop: 1:11:32, 4.28 miles, 3.2 mph, HR=130. Amazing how stress affects the body! While yesterday I was planning to schedule Gracie’s knee surgery first thing Monday, this morning I’m inclined to do nothing. When the other leg goes, I’ll put her down. Sad thought. Soren and Teddy spent the morning with us. I introduced Soren to the Trail-A-Bike and in so doing, made up for my introduction to kayaking.

I picked Avery up at Amy’s office. She came with me to the chiropractor. Then we went to Harvest Moon for Story Time, groceries and lunch with Steve. We spent the entire afternoon at two different Veterinarians with Gracie. The first in hopes of hearing a knee brace would do the trick. The next one to get another opinion on surgery. Three of three Vets have told me it’s mostly likely Gracie will tear the other knee before too long. Gracie also has two broken teeth that must be removed before they get infected, but this should wait until after the knee surgery. I have three estimates ranging from $1800-2800 for the knee surgery. And I have to be prepared to do that twice.

Fox/Willow/Watertown/Leaf Loop w/Daisy: 4.04 miles, 1:06:10, 3.7 mph, HR=109. We took Gracie to the Vet this morning. She’s got a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament. There is also some hip dysplasia/arthritis. Surgery would require three good legs and good hips, so that’s not an option. She’s back to 150 mg of Rimadyl/day and reduced rations and activity. I will explore the option of some sort of knee brace. We’ll accommodate her as best we can for as long as she seems happy/content.
