Stubbs/Maxwell Loop: 103 minutes, 6.0 miles, 3.5 mph, HR=114. . Laundry. Tended the garden. The bananas were falling out of the freezer. Time to make banana bread! A nasty thunderstorm with much wind! The power went out about 9:15 pm and came back about 2:30 am. The neighbor’s dead tree ended up on my roses. I was reminded that I have not yet ordered a water filter. I don’t keep much bottled water on hand any more and I have been intending to order a camping type water filter so I can make lake water into drinking and contact lense washing water. I also realized I don’t have a battery operated radio. There are plenty of flashlights!

There are only two guys to move the piano. I can’t watch. Even with the proper equipment, that’s a tough job for two people. “Rhinocerous” Park. Avery cut some lettuce from the garden for her dinner salad. Geocaching. It’s fascinating to see the things Avery retains. Last time we went Geocaching, I explained to her about using a stick to poke in holes, because it’s never a good idea to go sticking bare hands/fingers into places you can’t see. Today, when we determined we were close to the cache, Avery picked up a stick and started poking around at the base of a tree. I often wonder if she understands the things I’m telling her. Obviously she does. Today made two weeks in a row the wind kept us off the lake.

The sound of running water in my basement family room is downright unnerving. Steve’s got the covers off the sump pump pits. As I was drifting off to sleep last night, I vaguely recall him saying something about raising the floats because the pumps were running too often. St.George Women’s Council dinner at the Ox Yoke. Sunset and a glass of wine on the deck.

My boat is sold. Again. $1500 more than last time. The potential Buyer paid the Broker to do a compression check, which went just fine. Good sign.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.” Melody Beady

Early Mass. The kids at church were having a car wash to raise money for their trip to Guatemala. We asked, and they agreed, to wash Hanna! We celebrated Carol’s birthday and Kyoko’s graduation/going back to Japan over brunch. The entire garden is weeded! With the exception of some more peppers, everything is planted. It looks like rain. Perfect! This week the search words “Canine Insulinoma” brought 17 visitors (see category “Coco” ).

Stubbs/Maxwell Loop: 100 minutes, 5.97 miles, 3.6 mph, HR=111. Ran some errands in Wayzata. Spent most of the afternoon in the garden. I’ve not been out there in weeks because of the weather. It was very overgrown with weeds. The tomatoes, lettuce and corn have survived the cold, but barely. I planted green peppers, basil and cucumbers.

Since the weather is lousy, I planned to go to Como Zoo to see the butterflies. The parking lot was full! I’m not big on crowds, so we came home. Despite the nasty weather, we managed several tours of the yard. We made lemon bars. The deal fell through on my boat.

A piano mover has been scheduled for the square grand. That’s a load (literally) off my mind.
